A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

Performing a factory reset from settings

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory
  2. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  3. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  4. Tap ‘General,’ then scroll and tap Backup & reset.
  5. Select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Back up my data
    • Automatic restore
  6. Tap Backup account and follow the steps to create Google backup account, if necessary.
  7. Tap Factory data reset.
  8. Review the warning message and select or clear Erase SD card.
  9. Tap Reset phone.
  10. Tap Erase everything.
  11. Tap OK.

Performing a factory reset from hardware buttons

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. For this operation, you will use the Volume down key to move the screen cursor to select items and the Power key to perform actions. Both are located on the back of the device as shown.

To perform a master reset using the hardware keys, follow these steps:

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down keys on the back of the device.
  4. When the LG logo appears, release and then re-hold the Power key while continuing to hold the Volume down key.
  5. The Factory data reset screen appears.
  6. Press the Volume down key to advance the cursor until Yes is selected.
  7. Press the Power key to confirm.
  8. The Erase all user data and restore default settings screen appears.
  9. Press the Volume down key until Yes is selected.
  10. Press the Power key to confirm.
  11. The device restarts. Wait until the process is finished.
  12. Your device is now reset to its original factory settings.
