The HTC G1 or T-Mobile G1 (the phone that started the Android revolution) may not be half as powerful or even as popular as the Nexus 5 or the many other flagship Android devices out there, but there are still quite a few of them in the wild.

Just in case you’re the lucky owner of a Dream and would have forgotten your login credentials, here’s how you can go about hard resetting the device to regain access to the ageing beaut.

CAUTION: This will erase ALL your personal data from the device and return it to a factory state, so be forewarned.

1. Ensure that the device is powered off
2. Press and hold down the Home + Power buttons at the same time until you get a black screen with a warning triangle sign
3. Slide open the physical keyboard
4. Press ALT + W to “wipe data/factory reset” the device
5. When the process is complete, restart the device.

NB: You will be prompted to enter your Google credentials (Gmail address and password) to setup the device once it boots up.
